Welcome to The Kemper Museum

The Kemper Military School Museum, Inc. is committed to preserving and protecting the rich history, traditions, archives, artifacts, and collections entrusted to its care. We strive to provide a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for alumni, families, researchers, students, and visitors from around the world.

We ask all visitors to help us preserve Kemper's legacy by observing the following guidelines.

Visitor Expectations

Visitors are expected to:

  • Treat Museum exhibits, archives, artifacts, collections, and property with care and respect.
  • Follow instructions provided by Museum staff, volunteers, and authorized representatives.
  • Respect fellow visitors and maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Remain within designated public areas unless accompanied by authorized Museum personnel.
  • Assist in preserving the integrity and historical significance of Museum collections.

Research & Archive Access

The Museum welcomes researchers, alumni, and visitors interested in exploring Kemper's history.

Access to certain archives, records, and collections may require advance appointments, supervision, or special handling procedures to ensure the protection of historically significant materials.

Please contact the Museum in advance to schedule archive reviews or research visits.

Prohibited Conduct

To protect Museum property and ensure a positive visitor experience, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Theft, vandalism, or damage to Museum property.
  • Unauthorized handling, removal, or alteration of artifacts, exhibits, archives, or collections.
  • Harassment, intimidation, threats, abusive conduct, or disruptive behavior.
  • Unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Conduct that interferes with Museum operations, events, volunteers, staff, or visitors.
  • Any activity that may compromise the safety, security, or preservation of Museum assets.

Photography & Special Events

Photography for personal use is generally permitted unless otherwise noted.

The Museum reserves the right to restrict photography, videography, or access to certain collections, exhibits, or events when necessary to protect artifacts, archives, privacy interests, or intellectual property.

Special event guidelines may be established from time to time by the Museum administration.

Protection of Collections

The Kemper Museum serves as the permanent steward of Kemper Military School and College's historical collections. Many artifacts, documents, photographs, uniforms, and archives are irreplaceable.

Visitors are asked to help preserve these resources so future generations may continue to learn from and enjoy them.

Enforcement of Museum Policies

The Museum reserves the right to deny admission, restrict access, or remove individuals whose conduct threatens the safety of visitors, the protection of Museum property, or the orderly operation of Museum activities.

Failure to comply with Museum policies may result in suspension of Museum privileges, removal from Museum property, or other actions deemed necessary to protect the Museum and its collections.
