Donate Artifacts, Archives & Memorabilia

The Kemper Military School Museum, Inc. (The Kemper Museum) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and sharing the rich history and legacy of Kemper Military School and College.

The Museum welcomes donations of artifacts, archives, documents, photographs, uniforms, memorabilia, publications, and other historically significant materials from alumni, families, and members of the community.

Every item donated helps preserve the story of Kemper and ensures that future generations can learn from and appreciate the leadership, traditions, and heritage that have defined the institution since its founding in 1844.


Determining Eligibility

Donated items should have a direct connection to Kemper Military School and College, its students, faculty, traditions, or history.

Preparing Your Donation

To help preserve the historical significance of each item, donors are encouraged to provide a brief written description including:

  • History of the item
  • Approximate date or time period
  • Connection to Kemper
  • Name of the donor
  • Any relevant background information

This information helps the Museum properly catalog and interpret the collection for future generations.

Gift Agreement

Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, all accepted donations become the property of The Kemper Museum and may be used, displayed, stored, preserved, digitized, or otherwise managed in accordance with Museum policies and professional archival standards.

The Museum reserves the right to determine how donated items are utilized within its collections.

Loan Policy

The Museum may consider loans of historically significant items on a case-by-case basis.

Because loaned items require additional documentation, insurance considerations, and administrative oversight, prospective lenders should contact the Museum directly to discuss the terms and feasibility of a loan arrangement.

Tax Information

As a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, The Kemper Museum will provide a written acknowledgment for all accepted donations.

The Museum does not provide appraisals or determine the fair market value of donated items. Donors are responsible for establishing the value of their contributions and should consult a qualified appraiser and tax professional regarding any potential tax deductions.

Contributions may be eligible for tax-deductible treatment in accordance with applicable IRS regulations.
